Why Our Training
Choosing a Yoga Teacher Training is tough with online ads promising low costs and quick certification. Though useful during the pandemic, a study of 3000+ Studio owners concluded that 75% of owners wouldn't hire instructors with only online training, as auditions show these graduates lack skill and confidence. Many online Yoga Teacher Training programs focus on profit and don't align with the yoga community's values as they claim.
Here at Life Yoga Academy, we are a Yoga Studio as well as an Instructor development academy. We have worked with countless instructors and we know how to build successful instructors from the ground up. As instructors who have taken in-person Yoga Teacher Trainings and also done our share of Online Trainings, we can attest that nothing beats the connection of live community and connection with in-person training. With our training you will receive:
Personal Connection
Mentorship

Train with Authentic Instructors

Indepth Knowledge of Yoga's History
Skills to Effectively Plan & Sequence Classes
Anatomy of various body types to meet individual needs

Alia
Owner & Head Faculty
RYT 500
Ashtanga, Sequencing
Alia earned her YTT Designation at the Yoga Sanctuary in Toronto. She is an advocate for Natural Healing. "My goal is to bring awareness to the natural health resources at our fingertips and to unveil much of the scrutiny surrounding natural health and herbs. Yoga is a powerful healing tool and especially when combined with other modalities, its benefits are magnified and you will quickly learn exactly what your body is capable of. I have one rule for clients working with me.... we must have fun, laugh at ourselves and enjoy the process together" Alia is lighthearted, dedicated to the community and has been the driving force (along with the instructors) behind Life Yoga Studio's reputation and success earning the studio multiple Diamond awards for Best Yoga Studio in Milton by Readers Choice & Milton Chamber of Commerce Best Business of 2022.
Sonya
RYT 500, Transformational Coach, Vinyasa & Yoga Philosophy
Yoga was something that Sonya dabbled in for many years before entering a Moksha/Modo studio in 2009. “The first time I sweat it out in a Modo class, it was as if every pore had cried and provided me a release; my body let go of what it needed to. Yoga allowed me to simply BE for the first time in a long time…without a label, without playing a role. Stillness, nourishment and connectedness are what keep me coming back to the mat.“ Inspired by the peace and inner nurturing she found within this practice, she felt compelled to pursue a certification so that she could extend this practice out to many others. She has since gained over 1000 hours of training in various yoga modalities. She started out her yoga profession with her first teacher training in 2011 with Modo Yoga International and since then has continued to expand her knowledge with numerous trainings in prenatal, yin, restorative, vinyasa, breathwork and meditation. Her most recent training has certified her as a Yoga Tune Up instructor. She is currently studying sound healing and looks forward to providing this as an addition to her teachings, workshops and retreats. She is also a personal development coach, a barre instructor and a level 2 reiki practitioner. Sonya has had the opportunity to teach in many different environments from yoga studios to schools to addiction treatment centres and enjoys spreading the benefits of yoga throughout as many communities as she can connect with.
Janina
Janina, RYT 200
Pre-natal, Seniors Specialist
Over ten years ago, Janina turned to practice yoga as a way to relax and have some downtime from looking after her two very active young children. Just one downward-facing dog posture (asana), she was captivated by the calmness and inner peace she found in herself. After that first yoga class, she realized teaching of yoga was her calling in life. One of her favourite aspect of practicing yoga is the amazing transformation and healing that take place both physically and emotionally. An emphasis on listening to your body, respecting your limits, without judgement and meeting personal expectations is a common thread throughout her class. The main focus of her teaching is the breath, proper alignment, and honouring the body. She believes that the power of kindness is indispensable for the well being of everyone. Janina suffers from Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Janina completed in April 2018 Pain and The Stretch Reflex with Nicole Ablack-Ramkay (Toronto) and in the fall 2016, the 20 hrs Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training: Healing your Heroes by Healing Heroes Project in Oakville, Canada. Janina has studied as well with other noted yogis: Daniel Rama summer 2016, Brad Waites, summer 2015. Rodney and Colleen Yee, Cindy Lee, Leslie Kaminoff, Jason Crandell, Yasmin Gow, J. Miller, Maria Garre, Doug Swenson, Natasha Rizopoulos, Lisa Black, Michelle Cormack, Todd Norian and Ann Green at the Toronto Yoga Conference. In 2009 she attended the Pre and Post Natal Yoga Training Programme at Esther Myers Yoga Studio in Toronto.
